The Max Radford Gallery brings QUILTED FRAGMENTS - a solo presentation of the British designer Lewis Kemmenoe for the first edition of Salone Raritas fair. Lewis Kemmenoe presents a group of furniture pieces in minimal silhouettes, containing his signature wood patchwork technique. In this collection multiple species of timber are intricately cut and affixed together to form a surface of dissonance. creating a dialog between the idiosyncratic character of each grain and texture.
'The show is an evolution of his ongoing Patchwork series that first began its life as a cabinet and screen 4 years ago. Since then the series has evolved through technique, scale of pattern and typologies to become the Monolithic pieces of today. Born out of a want to use exotic timber without connecting to the supply chains providing it, Lewis worked with off-cuts from his local timber merchant to include the varied and vivid timbers in the early pieces. Lewis now works across various European timbers to create the intricate and textural works presented.' - Max Radford
